The Basics
Air soft rifles can be split into three different types, spring, gas, and electric. Spring powered rifles are the most common and are operated by cocking a spring that chambers a round and gets the gun ready to fire. They are mostly a one-use weapon because it doesn’t have much stopping power. The second, gas, is probably the most expensive of the three because of all of the gas cartridges you have to buy. These weapons have high stopping power but low accuracy, so they even each other out. The gas that is used is either green gas or carbon dioxide. The third, electric, is probably the most useful because it has settings like semi automatic and full automatic. Full auto helps if the enemy gets too close. Also full auto helps because it can be used suppressively, or to keep an enemy from firing at you. These three categories don’t just go for sniper rifles, they are also the design for many other air soft weapons.
